Respekt / Respect

(painting by Emily Carr)       (English scroll down)

The whole package - take it or leave it!

------------------------------------------

The fundamental condition for friendship is not love but respect. If you do not feel respect for the person you call a friend, is it really a friendship?

With respect, I don't mean admiration, but a complete lack of contempt and condemnation. Anyone who calls himself your friend, and with "good intention" is telling you that you're living incorrectly, that's insulting.

If you have a friend who suddenly get problems and lose himself in drugs and/or alcohol then it may be legitimate to talk to him or her, but not on his choice of lifestyle. Do you really think you could change someone else's behavior by condemning it? On the contrary, you force a person into a defensive position by condemning and by giving your unwelcome comments, disguised in a "I care about you." The hell you do.

Anyone who cares listens, keeps silent about their own opinions (unless they are explicitly requested) and kicks her ego into the closet during the half hour or more it takes to actively get to know and understand the universe of their fellow human. No it is not your world! No it is not your opinions and your life choices, but by which right do you judge them and despise them just because they aren't your own? Respect is listening and trying to understand.

I think many have misunderstood respect by thinking it is the same thing as accepting, but it is not the same. However, what we don't understand we easily feel fear and hatred for. Understanding opens the door to safety. When we no longer struggle through the dark forest of doubt, but know how the wild animals behave, then we don't fall victims of a menacing shadow.

By the Delphic Oracle it was written: "Know thyself." True, true and true again. How much isn't there, of that which you condemn and dislike, which you press down and hide at the bottom of the basement?

The prerequisite for a healthy friendship is mutual respect, not sharing the exact same opinions and views but well accepting his friend as he or she is. A famous quote says: My friends are the ones who love me despite who I am. " In other words with all my defects. The whole package - take it or leave it!

It also helps to have confidence in each other .. if I tell you something very personal, something you asked about, but you in turn you close yourself and you don't tell me anything, even though I asked, well - then I feel betrayed. It feels like you don't trust me. And if you can not trust me - how can we be friends?

It's not respectful, on the one hand to ask me to share with you my secrets but you close yourself and you don't tell me a word about your own life. I do not know what this could be called, perhaps manipulaion, maybe fear, maybe just pure ignorance but the result is that one part is experiencing a lack of trust and someone you do not have confidence in - can you really call that person a friend?

Love, kindness, happy laughs together until the tears are flowing, all of that is just the icing on the cake.

Without respect, you're not my friend.

#1: Bloggblad

Self Control

Many things in the world we live in must be controlled and the hardest thing to control is ones self..

To rule our self and control our desires and passions is very hard because we are the only person who can teach our self and the only way we can learn is through practice..None of us will ever achieve the ability to be completely in control of our self and our vast number of emotions but we should still try our best to remain in control during most situations.

No battle we could ever fight is harder to win than our battle with our self to control our

self..

One of the greatest treasures we can ever have, is control over ourselves; power to make it through the trials of life , to face hardships, pleasure and pain, strength to stand up to what we believe and the power of calm reliance in times of hardship and life turmoils. The person who has weak control over self lives their life fighting the hardships they them self make and this prevents them from becoming a success while others with more self control are more successful..

The person that doesn't try to master them self through self control has a harder time trying to do anything because they can not successfully supervise anyone else without first trying to supervise and control them self..

If you want to meet the first person you must try to supervise and control, just stand in front of a mirror, take a look, and that person will be looking back at you...
